My children's paternal great-great grandfather was Nephi Jaseph, a Civil War veteran of CoA 29th Iowa Volunteer Infantry, born 24 Dec 1844, died 17 Jun 1920. He had 3 sons that I know of, Jay, Alfred, and Charlie. I believe there may have been a daughter also. Jay was born 15 May 1876 in Council Bluffs, Iowa and died Oct 1971 in Tucson. He had one son, Lt. Col. Roland H. Jaseph, a last member of the United States Cavalry stationed at Ft. Riley, Kansas. Lt. Col. Jaseph was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on 13 Jan 1914 and died 5 Dec 1998. There exists a large Jaseph tombstone with Nephi Jaseph and other family members buried in a Council Bluffs Iowa cemetery. I am searching for any possible connections to these family members and hope that I have been of help to someone else searching this rather uncommon surname. Don't forget to check the spelling Joseph. When I had the last name Jaseph, it was more often than not spelled that way by others recording it. In fact, on the Civil War Muster Rolls Nephi Jaseph's last name was spelled Joseph!!
