G'day Peter
Thanks for your quick reply.
I did not know that George Jaques the attorney's clerk of Leeds. I had only seen that Rosetta Jane JAQUES' 1849 marriage cert shows father George JAQUES as Solicitor in your reply to the original poster above (which is the reason I posted my query here).
I don't have access to other family trees on Ancestry, so can't access the Martin Family Tree owned by margmartin53 so any information you could send to step4joy2000-257 at yahoo.com.au would be appreciated.
I knew that the 1828 birth/baptism record of Joseph Jaques that shows George and Elizabeth as parents but not that it shows George as solicitor.
A list I have of biths/christenings of children with parents listed as George Jaques and Elizabeth after the date of their 1807 wedding are:-
Eliza Jaques birth: 3 August 1809 christening:27 August 1809 CATHEDRAL SAINT PETER, SHEFFIELD, YORK, ENGLAND
Anne Jaques christening: 26 December 1813 SAINT PETER, LEEDS, YORK, ENGLAND
Elizabeth Jaques christening: 31 May 1818 SAINT PETER, LEEDS, YORK, ENGLAND
Mary Jaques christening: 25 December 1819 SAINT PETER, LEEDS, YORK, ENGLAND
George Jaques birth:8 October 1820 christening:5 November 1820 ST MARY, ROTHERHITHE, LONDON, ENGLAND
Caroline Jaques christening:2 October 1821 SAINT PETER, LEEDS, YORK, ENGLAND
Sarah Jaques birth:31 August 1822 christening:27 November 1822 ST MARY, ROTHERHITHE, LONDON, ENGLAND
Elizabeth Jaques birth:20 September 1824 christening:30 July 1826 ST MARY, ROTHERHITHE, LONDON, ENGLAND
>>Rosetta Jane Jaques would fit in here about 1827<<
Joseph Jaques birth:8 July 1828 christening:27 August 1828 ST GEORGE THE MARTYR, SOUTHWARK, LONDON, ENGLAND death:4 June 1829
About the above I note that ROTHERHITHE and SOUTHWARK are next door suburbs and both are Church of England denomination.
Also note that births/christenings in Leeds overlap the births/christenings in London however while it is possible they are all from the one family it gets quite tight with 5 births in 5 years with the closest christenings being 9 months apart followed by 10 months apart. Tight - but not impossible.
Interestingly there is a George Jaques christening on 15 July 1785 at the CATHEDRAL SAINT PETER, SHEFFIELD, YORK, ENGLAND whose father is John Jaques and mother Sarah. These have interesting coincidences with the place of christening of Eliza in 1809 and George's Mother's name Sarah with a daughter with the same name (c.1822). Rosetta has a son named John.
