Thanks for your reply. Do you have birthdates/places for the children of Varnum & Susanna Burleson and any information on Varnum/Susanna's ancestors? Since last posting to this board I have found Varnum was from Michnook Pond, Rhode Island, with his father being William and his father Amos; and Susanna from Canajoharie, New York, with her father being James. I believe my Sarah Jacques' DOB is 7 oct 1819 in Ohio or New York? Please let me know, Alissa

I have the children of Varnum Jaques and Julia Ann Case as: Varnum, Caleb, Harvey Leander, Henry, John Porter, Levi Jason "Jason", Charley Esau, Franklin Theodore, Adeline and Cordelia.

I have the children of Varnum Jaques and Susannah Burleson as Susanna, Harriett, James, Sarah, William, Isaac and Mary Theodocia.

Caleb Jaques married Amanda Holtsberry and had a daughter named Martha.

Many of the Julia Case/Varnum Jaques line of Jaques went to Camanche, Clinton County, Iowa and then to Sagauche (sp?), Colorado.

Jakes from Collenton Co. S.C.

Requesting information from the descendants of Landy and Adeline Jakes from Collenton CO. S.C. Their son's were Daniel, William(my great grandfather), John, Morgan, Joseph and Washington. Their daughters were Elvira Rickenbacker and Louvenia. John relocated to Georgia during the early 1900's. Daniel resided in Jasper S.C. and William and his family resided in Branchville, S.C. until 1930. I'm trying to complete my family tree. Any information would be helpful.

I don't have alot of information on them, except I know that their daughter, Eldora I. Holland, born in 1867 in Tennessee, married Francis M. Yates (my line) in Bedford County, TN on 4 Dec 1888. Francis Yates died in 1897 and is buried in the Holt Cemetery in Bedford County, TN.

My father is William Jakes, born 1933 in Willingham and I believe his father's name was also William. I have only just started researching the family tree so my information is currently negligible.

I tried going to your Ancestry page but it wouldn't let me see it or contact you without subscribing even though I was logged on under my Rootsweb/Ancestry acct.(I don't currently have an Ancestry subscription though I do admin some of the Rootsweb/Ancestry msg boards. I am directly descended from George Jakes. He was married to Olga McCord. His parents were Alexander Jakes and Arminda Harrell. They were born in Murfreesboro and Coffee, TN. I have a lot more information on my ancestry page if you would like to know more!

Thanks, thanks for this info, I'll definitely check it out. I thought perhaps the Jaques/Jacques/Jakes were French Canadian?, but I have no proof. I also found a Jakes in New England (Salisbury/Amesbury MA) but not the right line. Thanks so very much. I'll look into RI and NY. Are you related to this family? Sarah Jakes (Jaques, Jacques) was my 2nd G-Grandmother. She was married to David Byrum before she married Nicholas Holsberry. I am not sure of the spelling of her last name. In my family Bible it is spelled Jakes, on my great grandfather's death certificate is spelled Jaques. She was born 7 Oct 1819 and died 13 Dec 1883. She is buried in Alton Cemetery near Alton, Franklin Co., Ohio

I show that Sarah was born 7 Oct 1819 and died. 23 Dec 1883. She is buried in Alton Cem., Alton, Franklin co., OH. Their 5 children are Gabriel; Mary Elizabeth; Richard Pierce; James; Emily; Martha Ann.

I only have an address for Ray Keck. He is a lovely man and I am sure he would assist you.

I know probably wouldn't show much as they didn't record much back then. Which son's death cert. did you find her name listed on? Any guess as to her parents or siblings? I am seeking any information about the Irish origins of any Jakes or (Jacques)who left the Wexford/Waterford/Kilkenny areas of Ireland in the late 1700's or early 1800's to Canada.

I don't have proof, but Sarah Jaques father may have been Varnum Jaques born 2 Apr 1796 Michnook Pond, Kent Co, RI died 2 Dec 1852 Alexandria, Licking Co, OH. Her mother may have been Susannah Jane Burleson born 1802 Canajoharie, Montgomery Co, NY died 25 Jul 1829 Augusta, Oneida, NY
On William Byrum's death certificate(her son from her first marriage) it is listed that Sarah was born in NY. Also, there are several Holsberry families in Licking Co, OH. Licking Co is just east of Franklin Co where Sarah lived with John Holtsberry and where she is buried.

Take this info with a grain of salt because it is conjecture.
