Surnames: Jaffray, Jeffrey.
Just to add to this conversation. I have been trying to discover my Jaffray family connection for a number of years now, with very limited success, and have read your messages regarding the Jaffray family thinking we may have a similar connection.

I live in Australia and my Jaffray relation came to Hobart Town, Tasmania in 1843. He was William Jeffrey (Jaffray) and his brother was John Jaffray. John was eventually made the 1st Baronet of Skitls, Warwickshire after many years of public service and newspaper ownership. Both boys were born in Stirling, Aberdeenshire, Scotland in 1813 and 1818 respectively.

Their father was John Jaffray, a weaver, burgess and spirit dealer in Stirling. He was married to Agnes Wilson in Canongate, Edinburgh in 1808.

I believe John's father was William Jaffray and his mother was Katherine Baird but I am unsure of these facts.

I also believe this Jaffray family line extends back a further 2, 3, or 4 generations to Alexander Jaffray and his wife Christian Barclay.

I, like many Jaffray descendants, am unsure if I am on the 'right track' regarding my assumptions of this branch of the Jaffray family tree. I do understand that the Jaffray family tree is very extensive and the Jaffray family links to the Throsk farm and Kingswells is very confusing. I would be grateful of any assistance identifying my branch of this tree.
