Richard -- I'm just now working my way through my grandfather's (Walter M. Jackson, 1898-1956) handwritten genealogy, which is on three large ledger-paper sheets. I hope to have it all entered into a
Family Tree Maker file by this weekend and will be happy to share it with you. (I also posted some other notes on the
Harkleroad board, which I check after coming across that distinctive name.)
These sheets show Montgomery's parents as John M. Jackson (a
Baptist minister) and a woman named "
Zaney" or "
Janey" (I can't tell). The woman's name, John's initial and John's birth-death dates (1803-1870, which differ from yours) were added by another relative, Kathryn
Overstreet Lege).
John is shown as the second son of Reubin (sic)
Jackson (1777-1857) and Mary Elizabeth
Houston (1792-1839).
Unfortunately, there are no sources or citations for the information on these sheets. I can only imagine that maybe it's my grandfather's direct knowledge or compiled from family Bibles or such.
Hopefully we can help each other fill out and authenticate our trees.
