Nicolina Jabbia is my great-great grandmother. I am looking for any information on her mother and father. She was born in 1874, I believe in Sicily. She lived in New Orleans but died in Chicago. Her first husband was Giuseppe Cangemi, her second husband was Farracano. Any brothers or sisters out there to help.

Thank you,

Sharon

Last name could be spelled Gebbia.

Hello Sharon: I typed in my last name for fun and it brought me to this site.
My grandfather, Pietro Jabbia came to the United States in 1905. He was born in Palermo, Sicily. He landed in New Olreans, Louisiana but I cannot find any other information about the ship he came on or any other information. He was only 12 years old and came alone to meet his uncle. I do know they lived in Donaldsonville, Louisiana and then moved to Powhatan, Louisiana. If you have any information you would like to share, I would appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks, Evelyn

I have a Great Grandmother from Palermo, Sicily who just celebrated her 95th birthday. Her name is Nina Jabbia. Although from the messages I've been reading it does not sound like we are talking about the same people.

Hi,
I am related to the other Jabbia posters. My maiden name is Jabbia. I have not heard of nicolina. But I have been told by my grandfather John Jabbia jr that the name was originally spelled Gebbia and was misspelled when he came over so it would seem we are related to her. If you find more background, please forward it to me.

Thank you
