Hello Ank,
I live on the Indiana/Illinois border in a town called Lansing,Illinois, which borders a the town the town of Munster, Indiana. My wife is a JaBaay and her grandfather (Leonard JaBaay) was from Munster. I believe his father's name was also Leonard. I posted the first message on this website and since then there have been a couple of others that have either answered me or have posted messages. I was looking for info on my wife's family, but I don't have much information to build on. The other two people that have posted messages are JaBaays and they might have more info than I do. In the town of Munster there is a town hall building that is no longer used as a town hall that has a cornerstone that has a number of the names of JaBaays carved into the stone. These were town officials at the time the town hall was built. I don't remember the date, but I believe it was in the early 1800s. I thought the name Munster came from one of the early settlers of the town. I also thought the name was German. There were a lot of Germans and Hollanders that originally settled this area and a lot of them married each other. I supose this was common because the languages are similar. My wife's grandmother was a Patz who married Leonard JaBaay. There are a lot of Jabaays still in this area. Some of them don't claim to related, but I believe they all are related. You might try replying to Donald L. JaBaay and asking him for infomation as he answered my message and he seems to have some info on the family. I intend to get back to him as soon as I have more info to build on. I hope you are sucessful in finding more info as I would really like to make a connection between my wifes family and others as well as to the Netherlands.
