I wish I could say yes. These grandparents had so many conflicting stories. Now it seems our August, son of Jacov Vialnd Jaakola and Miina Nilma was born either in 1870 or 1873in Tarku (Abo)(differents ages and dates on various documents. Also I got a marriage liscense from Dec. 28 1902 (before he came over) from the Island of Marinnhamina, where his name is Augusti Soumi! He told people here that an employee changed his name in 1905 to Holm and he kept it (without any legal change). He said in an affidavit and in him naturalization papers that he came over in Aug. 1903 on a ship that isn't listed and National ARchives can't find that either! I did find one August Jacckola in Ellis Island, arriving
on June 25, 1903 and on the mainifest it says he was going to Hancock MI to reach a friend. I'm not even dead sure it's OUR August, but closest I can find, so far. My grandmother I can't find...but when her sister and brother arrived in 1906 they said they were to go to AINA SUOMI in NYC, so she got here sometime inbetween. What a confusion. Have even hired a researcher in Sweden who knows the Finn research, but so far no real luck! Appreciate your response!
