BOARDMAN, OH – Mrs. Mary P. Melito, 87, formerly of Ellwood City, Pa., passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at the Commons of Greenbriar in Boardman, Ohio. (Mahoning County)

Mrs. Melito was born Jan. 29, 1927, in Ellwood City, PA. to the late Augusta Palmese Izzo and Giuseppe Izzo.

She married James Melito, her husband of 59 years, on May 3, 1947.
James passed away March 31, 2006.

Mary was a lifelong resident of Ellwood City and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1945. Mary worked for 10 years as a clerk for the Mervis Furniture Co., and then she was a long-time employee of the Ellwood City Area School District, where she served as secretary to the principal at Lincoln High School.
Mary was a member of the Holy Redeemer Parish She also was a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court 901, and the Golden Agers.
Mary and her husband were wonderful dancers, and she also enjoyed ceramics, gardening, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Rick (Kathy) Melito of Boardman, Ohio; a daughter, Angela (Martin) Quimby of New Castle, Pa., and three grandchildren, Gabrielle Black, and Matthew and Marisa Melito; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Anna Izzo Beatrice and Angelica Izzo Bartoletti; and four brothers, Adam, Albert, Rudolph, and Richard Izzo.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 9 until 10:30 a.m. at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services in Ellwood City.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Holy Redeemer Church.

Interment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Commons of Greenbriar, where Mary made her home for the past two years, for their wonderful care.
