For those on this Izquierdo Board who have expressed interest in the Coat of Arms, I hope this information herein is useful.

The Izquierdo surname, also spelled Yzquierdo, comes to my Quiles Martinez Lopez Estrada family through the marriage of my grand-uncle Daniel Estrada Castro to my grand-aunt Candelaria Izquierdo Ayala. The origin of the Izquierdo surname is from Spain and it is found in many regions of the Spanish Peninsula, such as in Aragon, Castilla, Barcelona, Valencia, Madrid, and Galicia. Specifically for our Izquierdo family in Puerto Rico, the genealogical research indicate that Juan Izquierdo Martinez, who was born in 1864 in Avila, Spain, is our direct original link to the Spanish Peninsula. The meaning of the surname Izquierdo refers to a nickname given to a person (often a man) who is left-handed, and used to describe that physical and behavioral characteristic. Several Izquierdo’s family Coat of Arms have been found in the Spanish heraldry as early as 1332 associated with military activities (Source: Heraldaria.com). Attached below are these three Izquierdo Coat of Arms (coa).

Read descriptions for each COA from left to right:

Left Coa1 is described as "En campo de gules, una banda de oro engolada en dragante de sinople y acompañado de dos estrellas del mismo metal, una a cada lado"

Middle Coa2 is described as "En campo de oro, un arbol de sinople y un león al natural empinado al tronco"

Right Coa3 is described as "En campo de sinople tres fajas, ondeadas de plata"
