Re: Joseph Iwanski:
My uncle, Joseph Iwanski, lived in Cheektowaga, NY. He was one of five brothers and two sisters, children of Frank and Valentina (nee' Idziak) Iwanski, who came to the Buffalo area from East Prussia.
My father, Edward F. Iwanski, was the third-oldest of the seven. He was born in 1910 and died in 2002. All seven siblings are now dead, most recently my uncle Charles, known in the family as Carl, who passed away last Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007. I am named for another brother, Leonard, who died
in 1996.
My grandfather died in 1967 and my grandmother in 1977. They lived on Hedwig Ave. in Cheektowaga. I still have cousins in the Buffalo area.
I don't know where you are, Michael, but family tradition has it that Franz (Frank) Iwanski came to America with a brother, who went off to the Midwest. There are many Iwanskis in Chicago, in Michigan, and a cluster in Nebraska.
