John Iwanko from Winnipeg
Hi, I am looking for the relatives of my great grandfather John Iwanko, who was Sep 5, 1884 in Kutiwka, Xofyczynce, Galicia, Poland. He emigrated to Winnipeg, Canada and passed away on April 25, 1967. The family name has many spellings; Ivanko, Ivanka, Iwanko, Iwanka, Evanko, Ewanko etc. Any information would be appreciated.

Re: John Iwanko from Winnipeg
My great-great grandparents, Mikolaj(Nicholas)Dyl, and Thecla Iwanka came to Canada in 1900. Our family has their home town in Galicia as Kopyczynce (now Kopychyntsi, Ukraine), however we've tracked down their family's church records on LDS microfilms as being in the towns of Teklowka and Kotowka, which are two small hamlets just south of Kopychyntsi. It sounds likely that my GGGrandmother may be related to your great grandfather. Thecla was born Dec 24, 1864 so it's possible she was his aunt or a cousin once removed? I'd be interested to find out any more info you have on the Iwanka family. I don't have any information on her family other than her death certificate (attached) that says her father's name was Steve Iwanka.
