Marko Iwaniw
SPRINGFIELD - The funeral will be held Feb. 16 for Marko Iwaniw of Springfield, who died Feb. 12 of age-related causes. He was 81.
Iwaniw was born Jan. 22, 1923, in Duilby, Bibyrka, Ukraine to Mychajco and Ksenia Ewanicka Iwaniw. He married Ewa Billinowich in Montreal on Aug. 30, 1952.
He lived in Ukraine and Germany until 1948. He lived in Canada for 11 years before settling in Springfield in 1959.
He worked for Georgia Pacific from 1960 until 1985. He enjoyed fishing and also worked as a commercial fisherman.
He was a member of the Nativity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Springfield. He will be remembered as a handyman.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Alexander of Tillamook and Nickolas of Salem; a stepbrother, Nickalas Stachicw of Montreal; and four grandchildren.
The Panachida will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Nativity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Springfield. Monday's service will be held at 11 a.m., also at the church. Burial will be at Mount Vernon Cemetery in Springfield. Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Nativity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Springfield.
