Hi! I'm Nancy Monnell and my paternal grandmother was Miriam IVIMEY from Cupids, Conception Bay Newfoundland.
I do have some info on the Ivimey family and would be pleased to share with anyone interested. One thing I found interesting is, DON'T just check out the spelling of "Ivimey" but also check on "Ivany" or "Ivaney". I know for a fact the Ivimey family interchanged the spelling not only within cousins etc, but also within siblings! My grandmother was Miriam IVIMEY born July 1856, and her sister was Martha IVANEY. They had two brothers, both apparently died in infancy - Samuel and Moses. Their parents were William Ivimey and Louisa Dawe. Miriam and Martha left Cupids around 1907 after the death of their mother (Louisa) and remarriage of the father to one of his cousins - Mary Ann ? - Can't recall the surname at the moment...but will look it up. The girls went to Boston as nurses aides, eventually finding their way to Toronto Ontario Canada where they married and had families. I have some charts, copies of documents and even a very few pictures, along with family "legends" that may be of interest. Whoever wishes to exhange info is more than welcome to contact me. Would love to hear from you!
