Hi Sue,
My mother was an Ivan and I have been trying to find her Grandfather with no luck. I have not idea where he was from, but my grandfather was born in Beaufort, SC in 1891. Can you be of any help?

Hi Bonnie,
I have several Ivan's from a town called Szilvas- now Slivnik, Slovakia in the southeastern part of Slovakia. I can give you film numbers to check. Most of what I have are names prior to 1860, so I don't think I would be help with your relatives in South Dakota. Let me know. Sue

The 1860's might be about the right time but I think he was already in the USA. So I guess you can't help but thank you.

Hi Sue,

I,m the "Original" computer illiterate. I don't know how Ivan slipped into the post you responded to, except that my husband's first name is Ivan. I must have done some incorrect fingering on the keys. My family names from Slivnik are KALINYAK, BENYAK, IVANCO, (oops, that's where it came from) My grandmother's sister Maria married Gyula Ivanco. Yes, the dates are prior. Any help will be kindly appreciated.

Kozonom,
Bonnie

My name is Sean Ivan and I live in Jacksonville, FL. I have been looking into my ancestry and I can't come up with much but here is my story. I am originally from a small town of New Lothrop Michigan. My grandfather was Jerry F. Ivan and was son to John Ivan. As far as I know, he and his brother Johnny Ivan had come to the United States with his father John and his wife which I don't know her name, when they were very young. They had settled in New Lothrop Michigan. For more information about the decendence of John Ivan please e-mail me.

My Grandmother's last name was Varga and my Grandfather's last name was Ivan - they too were from Zbince and Hatalov, respectively. Do you have any dates of birth/marriage?
