I recently found out that my grandfather Attilio Ivaldi was born in Genova, Italy.
His family was from Ricaldone...in the province of Alessandria. His parents were Adrea Ivaldi and Leonina Giovanna Tassistro. She was from Trieste, Italy and died abt 1890 in Italy in an accident.
Know children of Adrea and Leonina Giovanna Tassistro were
Emilio Giovanna Ivaldi married Pasqualina Brusco in Sept 1911 in Italy.
Attilio Silvio Ivaldi married Adelina Barlocchi in Oakland, California
Emma Ivaldi married Pierro (Peter) Bolla
Flo Ivaldi (became a nun in Italy). I don't know the order but would love to find out.

Hi Joy:
I have also been working on our family tree for several years, having ancestors in the Alessandria region of Italy. Although the "Ivaldi" name is very common in Italy, what interests me about your posting is the combination of Ivaldi/Tassistro in your family tree.
I happen to have the same combination present in the form of my paternal great-great-great grandparents:
GIOANNI IVALDI married to ANNA MARIA TASSISTRO
around 1830's in the small town of Cassine, located between Genoa and Alessandria, in the province of Alessandria, Italy.
I don't know if my Ivadis were original from this town or imported in the form of my paternal great-grandmother who's name was Maria Giuseppina Ivaldi (Gioanni and Anna Maria were her grandparents). Her parents were: FRANCESCO IVALDI and LUIGIA (ANGELA) BADANO.
I have been working on my maiden name's family tree: PREDAZZI and the IVALDI name is a common combination dating back to the late 1700's.
I would appreciate any sibling information you may have on the Ivaldi's or Tassistro's.

Hi Monica
I located the convent that my Great Aunt was a Mother Superior Annetta at. I now have two more children of Andrea Ivaldi and Leonia Tassistro and 3 or Leniona's sisters names.
EMILIA Ivaldi - born on 27 jan 1883 in Riccaldone (AL). Aunt Rachel Compora. Rachele Colomba Tassistro married Lugi Compora. Emilia died at a young age.
ESTERINA - born on 12 february 1889 in Riccaldone (AL) Aunt Luigia Tassistro. Esterina died at a young age.
Anita Ivaldi born 8 Jun 1880 Riccaldone, Italy-(changed her name when she took her vows to Annetta)
Does any of the above ring a bell?
Thanks.
Joy

Hi Monica
I have been working on my Ivaldi's and noticed that my cousins given name was FRANCESCO. I know my family did use naming pattern. So I know wonder how FRANCESCO comes into play with my Ivaldi family.
I don't know yet who my Great-Grandfather Andrea Ivaldi's parents were. But do wonder how FRANCESCO fits into all of this. I am sure it fits some how.
Do you think there could be a connection here.
Joy
