David,
I don't know if we are related but my grandfather was born in Genoa Itlay. When he got to the US the went to Oakland, California because that is where his brother and father settled. His fathers name was Adrea and his mother's name was Leona. From what he told me his mother died in Itlay when he was a young man. She was riding a horse and her head hit a tree and she died. He was raised by friends of the family who had no sons and wanted one. His father and older brother came to this country first and then he followed.
He had two sisters who became nuns in Itlay; one was a mother superior. I don't know what order.

My grandfather Attilio Ivaldi told my brother the name Ivaldi is like Smith here it is a very common name. My brother has a bottle that has the Ivaldi name on it. It is from a brewery there.

Any thing sound familiar.
Joy
