Surnames: Cardillo
I have started looking up my family history and found that my original name is Cardillo (changed to Cardelle). I am looking for some help in finding information on Castelgrande, and the possibility of someone being familiar with my family.

Ken,

We may be related. From what I can tell, there are currently 4 Cardillo families listed in the phone directory in Castelgrande. My great grandfather Domenico Cardillo came to the U.S. in 1907, however, there were 2 other Domenico Cardelle's that came over within a few years of that same time period, so it is a little unclear. I believe he was married to Filomena and friends of the Masi family in Castelgrande.

Hello David,

Thanks for the reply. My grandfather, Domenico Cardillo was married to Filomena Melillo. He came to America I believe in 1900. He came over on the ship, "Karamania". This you can see if you go to the Ellis Island website. Are you certain about the date of 1907 for your great grandfather? My family was friend's with the Masi family, actually related as I believe my great grandmother was a Masi. If you'd like to write directly, my email is kcardelle@hotmail.com.
I am in Connecticut, where are you located?

Thanks for writing.

Ken

Hi David,

Wanted to see if you are still on here. I have resumed my search, filled in a few blanks, but really need some help from italy. I have contacted some archives and even written letters to each "Cardillo" in Castelgrande, none replied.
