Edward Iszkula, 85 of Erie Co, PA,
died Thursday March 19, 2009 at St. Mary's at Asbury Ridge. He was born in Erie on June 13, 1923 a son of Clemence and Rosalie Netupski Iszkula. Edward graduated from Erie's East High School in 1942. As America was at war, he was inducted into the US Army. He was deployed overseas in the 3rd Calvary Recon, receiving the Army Occupation Medal (Germany), American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon and the Good Conduct medal. He was discharged from the Army as a Tech Sgt., returning to the Erie area and working for General Electric where he worked for 35 years, most recently as a Maintenence Supervisor. He later worked for Jackson Cam and Crank in Jackson, Mich.., where he retired from. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Girard, the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Malecki Iszkula in 2007, whom he married August 7, 1948 in Union City; also by two sisters, Phyllis Guriel and Bertha Stazer; a brother Anthony "Tony" Iszkula and an infant brother Carl Iszkula. He is survived by two daughters, Patricia J. Ross and her husband Larry of Dallas, Texas, Jackie A. Soudan and her husband Bill of Girard; four sons, Ed Iszkula and his wife Maureen of Girard, Richard Iszkula of Erie, Carl Iszkula of Girard, David Iszkula and his wife Lorrie of Charleston, W.V.; two sisters, Theresa Heal of Deland, Fla., Margaret Jersey and her husband Bud of San Diego,Calif.; grandchildren, Steve, Erik, Jenny, Kelly, Bill, Brad, Ryan, Dusty, Kate, Kalena, Kiley, Josh, and Cameron; great grandchildren, Aurora, Madison, Ava, Alexa, and Benjamin, also many nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home 309 Main St. East, Girard. A Prayer Service will be held there on Monday at 9:30AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 101 Olin Ave., Girard. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Girard. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Harborview House #1, 210 W. 6th St., Erie, PA. 16507
