Joe Smith dies
Joe Smith, for many years a resident of Dawson, died at his home at 2146 No 1 camp, early Tuesday morning.
Mr. Smith had been an invalid for the past six years, having suffered a broken back in a mine accident on November 11, 1920. Burial was made in the Dawson cemetery, Wednesday afternoon.
The sympathy of the community is extended to the members of his family in their bereavement.
Joseph was the son of Istevan and Bertha Monar Istenes, both born in Hungary and who migrated to US around 1890. The family were miners, first in PA, and then in NM and CO. At some point in NM/CO they changed their name to Smith taking it from a Grandfather Schmidt, a German Hungarian.
