Isbel, Melvin D., age 89 of Dayton, Ohio passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014.
He was born October 26, 1924 in Franklin, Ohio.
He was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army, receiving two purple hearts, a bronze star and unit citation while serving as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne in WW II in the eastern section of Europe.
He was a charter member at Epiphany Lutheran Church and a retiree of NCR, Dayton, Ohio after 33 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his father, George W. Isbel; his mother, Mary Jane (Marshall) Isbel; brothers, George M. Isbel and Paul D. Isbel.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Libby Isbel; sister, Priscilla (Isbel) Shull; daughters, Sharon (Isbel) Windle and Kathy (Isbel) Timpone (Michael).
Also survived by five grandchildren, Kimberly (Harmon) Hergenrather (Tim), Kristen (Harmon) Kuhn (Jack), Justin Windle, Angela Timpone and Melinda Timpone. He also leaves behind 4 great-grandchildren, Joshua and Faith Hergenrather and Ashlyn and Landon Kuhn.
Visitation will be at Epiphany Lutheran Church from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday September 24th with the service following visitation.
