My line comes down through Samuels daughter Betsy who married Herrod Johnson

I am looking for the same information for a DAR application. Have you had any luck yet? If I should find it will let you know.

Thank you. I am looking into now how it was other people determined Samuel and Godfrey were brothers. Samuel must have a death record some where as I believe that is
how his brother Godfrey was proven to be the son of Godfrey the patriot.

I think somewhere in my not so organized mess, I have an old application for the DAR. However the proof did not meet todays standard. At least that is my memory. I will try and look. May take me a day or two.
Have you done any research on Herrod Johnson?

Surnames: ISAACS ISAACKS JOHNSON MURPHY
Hello,
Did you find your evidence proving Samuel ISAACS to be the son of Godfrey ISAACS? We are on the same quest.

I am descended from Fielding ISAACS, brother to your Elizabeth "Besty" ISAACS JOHNSON. When Levisa JOHNSON, daughter of Betsy & Herod JOHNSON, died in 1861 Fielding ISAACS was appointed guardian of her six children at his request. If you aren't familiar with the history, and records, of Fielding and Levisa, and subsequently her children, let me know and I will fill you in.

I certainly don't dispute the reasonable supposition that Samuel was the son of Godfrey. There is plenty of circumstantial evidence to indicate the Samuel was a brother to a Godfrey ISAACS who has been proven to be a son of Godfrey ISAACS via his death record of 1858. Unfortunately Samuel died prior to the keeping of those death records.

Also, I am curious how you arrived at the birth and death dates you attribute to the senior Godfrey ISAACS. I have been given a birth date of 1738, but no proof of where that date is derived. The latest record I have found thus far is Godfrey ISAACKS as a witness to the will of Keziah DEAN 22 May 1780 in Surry County, North Carolina. The will was proven in November 1787 by Richard MURPHY another of the subscribing witnesses, but Godfrey is not mentioned at that time.

Please let me know what you have found to connect our Samual ISAACS as the son of Godfrey. I am also planning on using this line in a SAR application.

Best Regards,
John Hughes

John,
The birth date comes from supposition also no proof. I do have a DAR application which has it as ca 1746 and it is checked off as proven. Unfortunately none is attached.
I am planning a trip to Salt Lake in the next two months and will be concentrating on this line. I will be more than glad to share whatever I find.
Both Samuel and Nancy are listed on the DAR application (A060624 National number 821553) but again they are not checked off as proven.
Have you found any proof as to who the father of Herod Johnson is? There is a lot of supposition out there that is William or Patrick Johnson but I have not been able to find proof on either.
Hopefully I will have something to share with you on this line in January.
