I found out years ago from a friend who was a history major in college that Andrew Jackson Isaacks was a General at the Battle of San Jacinto. He was not listed on the monument but was latter added to historical documents written about the battle. How accurate this is, I don't know yet. There is an historical marker on his grave, though. If anyone has any information on this, please email me at valeleux@earthlink.net. Thank you.

I have never seen any record that Andrew Isaacks served at San Jacinto. However, he was at the Seige of Bexar and some have said that that group could possibly have gone on to join Sam Houston's army at San Jacinto. My gggrandfather, Anderson Barclay, was also at the Seige of Bexar, and their is family legend that he also was at San Jacinto. If they had no commanding officer there, there is a possibility that they would not have been listed. My husband is decended from one of Andrew's sisters, Mahala Isaacks who married Hardy Pace. The marker is one put there by the Historical Survey Committee of Liberty County.

I wonder if there were two people with the same name (Andrew Jackson Isacks/Isaacks)? My 2nd great-grandfather was Andrew Jackson Isacks, born in 1825, and only 10 years old at the Siege of Bexar.

I am interested to know more about your husband's ancestor; I didn't know of this sister (Mahala Isaacks who married Hardy Pace).

There certainly are more than one Andrew Jackson Isaac(k)s. In my Isaacs' files I have four Andrew Jacksons and four Andrew Isaacs with no middle name (yet). Three of my Andrew Jacksons were born in 1819, 1836, and abt 1875 - all in Kentucky. For one Andrew Jackson I have no date or birthplace. He married Mary Jane Isaacs in 1833 in KY.

As for Pace, I have a Henry M. born abt 1861 to a William Pace and Martha Etheridge. Henry married Mary Isaacs in 1880.

I believe one line continued to spell their surnames Isaacks while others dropped the K. If I'm remembering correctly the Isaacks were mostly in Texas while the others lived mostly in KY.

Can anyone untangle this puzzle?
I have a Mahala Lakes who married an Andrew Jackson Isaacs but she died before 1841 and he remarried.

My great-great grandfather was Andrew Jackson Isacks (only one "a"), born 1825 in Winchester TN and died 1865 in Leavenworth KS.

You are right about there being more than one with similar names. Andrew Jackson was wildly popular in his day and lots of people named their sons after him.

My name is Tina Hinds
I am a GGG-Grandaughter of Mahala Isaacks and Hardy Pace
I had seen this string of postings on Ancestry about Andrew Jackson Isaacks, and I am seeking information on any Isaacks family also. My grandmother was Ethel Pauline Owens--she was born in Roundrock Tx to Steven Henry Owens JR, who was the son of Steven Henry Owens and Minerva Owens Pace (Minerva was the daughter of Mahala Isaacks and Hardy Pace)

Do you have any dates? I think that I am not descended from the Isaacks in Texas but I'm not certain of that. I do have a Hulda Isaacs born in 1875 in Kentucky but no spouse's name. Nancy Robinson.
