Samuel Isaacks brought about 23 people with him when he came to 'colonies'. He was given 1091 acres of land for helping to settle people in this new land. I am told he is listed in a book called "Caveliers and Pioneers" that was probably printed in Virginia. I dont have that book, nor do I know that if it is still in print.
I am told that Samuel's father was named Ralph Isaacks, and that he was from Wales,England.
I have a little more info if you would like to contact me at Simone1958@aol.com

My information is that Samuel was born in Scotland and that he spent a few years in Wales before coming to America. I have never been able to trace who his father was but one source says that the original name was McIssacks or something similar. Where did you get the name Ralph?

Thanks

Steve Moody

I found it on this data base, Ancestry.com
I tried to access my link that I had bookmarked, but it is no longer there.
I believe the information was from a will, that someone had posted.
Thats all I remember.
Good Luck,
Barb

Our best current information is that Samuel Isaacks was probably born in South Uist, Scotland, moved to Antrim, Ireland for about 8-10 years and settle as we seem to all understand in Frederick Co., VA. The only Welsh link we have thus found is his great grandson Samuel's marriage to Mary Morgan Wallace-her family was from Llantrisant, Wales. We are currently researching the collateral Isaac(k)s/MacIsaacs from South Uist, working backward to find a link to corroborate the several oral tradition revelations from the various descendant branches nationwide. The son, Samuel Jr. was given a land grant in VA from the "Baron of Cameron in that part of Great Britain known as Scotland." Cameron country is immediately next door to the Arisaig/Western Isles area from which we believe the family descends. The earlier origins information on the family was found at the Clan Donald Centre, Armadale, Isle of Skye, Scotland. Unfortunately, birth, baptismal, death and even land records are incomplete from this period. The family moved to an area where the population was predominantly Highland Scots and Scotch-Irish. The family left an old bible in the Gaelic, although nothing other than "S. Isaacks" is written in it. Contact us for further information.

Hello, I do have some information regarding this person. He is my first ancestor to come to America that I know of. I will gather what information I have. My uncle has done a good deal of research. My middle name is Walker, what is yours? How do we contact each other?

Do you have any additional information on Sr. Samuel who came to Frederick County, Virginia?

I live in Fredericksburg, Virginia and have been in touch with the Handley Regional Library in Winchester trying to obtain further information such as when he immigrated to the US and possibly the name of his spouse. My GGG Grandmother was Susan Mary Jane Issacks from Texas.

I too am a decendent of the Isaacks. My grandfather's mom was Zettie Isaacks. Seeing our history thrills me. My email is dnsclark_houston1@comcast.net if you could give me any more information. I think Ralph is Samuel's father and Mary is his mom's name.
