NC to IN Irvins? (George)

Surnames: Irvin, McClaskey, Ervin
Anyone have any information on the Ervins that moved from North Carolina to Indiana in the early 1800s? This family has spelled the name many ways, including Irvine, Erwin, Irvin and Irwin. I've traced back to my 5x Great Grandfather, George Irvine, who was born c. 1781 (possibly 1770) in North Carolina, married Sarah McClaskey in Philadelphia, and died January 1850 in Wayne County, Indiana. They had at least six children, Hiram, Leander, Eliza, Clarissa, J. Hile and Sarah E.
I haven't been able to find any confirmed information for George's parents or where in NC he was from. I have seen some people list Iredell County, but haven't seen anyone list sources for that.
