Sarah Lee was her (Cora's) mother's married name. Sarah was born in August 1836 in Tennessee. She was listed as a widow in 1900. Both of her parents were born in Tennessee. The Shawnees who had been a part of the mixed Seneca-Shawnee group of Lewistown, Ohio, removed to the Indian territory in 1832. In 1869 the main body in Kansas was incorporated with the Cherokee Nation. They were known as the "Loyal Shawnee" or Cherokee Shawnee. Most were listed on the Shawnee Register. When the Cherokee Lands were alotted around 1900 by the Dawes Commission these Shawnee were included. The Dawes cards range in dates from 1899 to 1907.
