Hello Irbyty as well as all the other Irbys on this thread. My 2nd great grandmother was Jennie Wills Irby. My great grandmother was Rose Irby. They were from the Sardis/Como area in MS. I recently found two death certificates of two of Jennie's younger daughters and found her maiden name of Wills and also that of my 2nd great grandfather whose name was Robert Irby who was dead by the 1870 census. The Irby family in Sardis/Como/Batesville towns are large with a lot of history of how they got to MS. The two slaveholders who brought them from Nottoway County, VA in 1948 were Freeman and his brother J.W. Irby. I began doing genealogy in 2011 when I retired but one of my friends who is also an Irby descendant began doing this research much earlier and has shared much info with me. As a matter of fact she gave me a copy of the death certificate of one of James Irby's sons (Ed Irby). The maiden name of your 2nd great grandmother, Agnes Irby, is on that death certificate and her maiden name was Anderson. The informant on that death certificate was Henry Irby.
