Dear Lenona, Please take heart, your family is out there and there are going to be those that are just as anxious to meet you! I understand what it is to not know your family.

My g gm had two brothers who married Ipock girls in MO. There could have been others in their family, I'm not sure any of us have gotten back that far yet but will check. It appears that the Ipocks were in North Carolina early on, specifically in Craven and Jones Co.

Please tell us the approximate age of your father, Richard Ipock and which state he may have been from prior to Texas. Also, it would be helpful to find out if there is any knowledge of his parents names, have you secured your Mother and Richard's marriage record yet? If not, there may be some clues there that will lead you to identify where he was from and possibly his parents.

Please get back here about your info and progress! Everyone will be looking for a possible Richard Ipock in their families!
God Bless!!!

Leona, your father was an Ipock most likely from the eastern part of NC; specifically Carteret and Craven counties i.e., Morehead City, New Bern, Bridgeton. The Ipocks are few in number since this is a Cherokee indian name mixed with some German descent. My grandmother was harriet Dera Ipock from Morehead City and her family came from Bridgeton. The indians lived primarily in the above mentioned areas and were Cherokee and mixed some with Tuscarora and Algonquin. The Ipock records are found in the Carteret County Register of Deeds offfice, Beaufort, NC, Craven County Register of Deeds, New Bern and Pamilico County Register of Deeds offices. If you give me your father's full name, date of birth, place of birth, date of death (if deceased) a possible social security number, I can help you find him. I am most likely related to you. There were some Ipocks who lived in TX, but most settled in eastern NC, some in Ohio and midwestern states. I will also need to know your full birth name, your mother's full maiden name, date and place of thier marriage. I am a historian and also a finder of missing persons.

Sharon,my family line is Truitt which was spelled Trewhitt and other various ways in the 1700's to mid 1800 when it finally became Truitt. It appears we may go all the way back to Levi Truewhit in Bath NC in the early 1700's.I know my gggrandfather was Whitty Trewhitt who married a Nora or Lenora Vendrick in Craven in 1836.His father may have been a William Trewhitt who married a Ruth Vendrick in 1801 in Craven. From my research of the family line I believe they lived up to the mid 1800's in a community even today called the Truitt community between Bridgeton and Vanceboro.Someone has advised me that other family names in that area at time were the Speights,Ipocks,Dunns,Cuthrells, and the Vendricks. The Vendricks were Swiss Palentine arriving in the area about 1727 via Benedictus Wennerich who changed the name to Vendrick. From a posting I have seen on the usgenweb Craven county page, your Ipock name is Swiss Palentine in ogigin as well which means it came from the Pfalz area or Palentine area of Germany. My family eventually moved down to South River/Merrimon and then left there for Goldsboro in the late 1800's.Wonder if you have any info on the Truitt's in the area or that family line or the Vendrick's.I have a distant cousin in Oriental,Billy Truitt, but he is not into the genealogy bug as I am.Any info you can provide would be appreciated.
