I'm looking for information for the family of Henry Innes and Nancy Van De(r) Bogart. My information (unproven) is that they were married in Genesee County, New York in 1806. I have yet to find an actual record of their marriage, but have recently come to understand that Genesee County, as originally defined in 1804, comprised much of upper state New York.
I do know that the family resided in Alexander of Genesee County in the census years of 1850-1880, and that the couple are buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery of that place. Nancy was born in Schenectady and is related to some of the well known Dutch families of the colony of New Holland.
I am most interested in proving the lineage of Henry Innes, and also furthering my knowledge of his children, of which I am descended. I had previously believed that he was born in Nova Scotia in 1782 and that his family had come from Scotland originally, but recent developments cast that into doubt. Census records suggest that he was born in New York.
I have for Henry and Nancy's children, Sally (1806); Eleanor (1808); John (1810); Phoebe (1812); Nancy (1815); Henry (1817); Jane (1819); Margaret (1821); Louisa (1823); Rufus (1825); Polly (1827); Elizabeth (1829); Anna (1830); Diana (1832); and Harmon (1834).
I am descended from Rufus. My information is that many (if not all) of the children were born in Alexander, although one source (unproven) has the first three being born in Saratoga County.
