Greetings to all Inman researchers.
It has been quite a while since I have had reason to write to the entire group. But it is with great pleasure that I can tell you that the Message Board for The Inman Compendium (
http://inman.surnameweb.org ) has been revived.
I received an offer last week from Shannon Byers, great-granddaughter of Mamie Inman Bradley (of the Joshua Inman family of SC). She offered to help rebuild the board, host it, maintain it AND transfer all of the old posts from my old board to the new one.
So now it is done. She has been able to complete the task in just 3 short days.
But the new site will be much better than my old board. It will be much more interactive. You have the capability to post, and reply to, messages, of course. You also have the option of replying directly with other members of the board, personal messaging. And there is a calendar on-site where you can post your family events to share with all researchers or mark personal events that only you can see.
The board will be home to all of the old messages divided into regions. So you can go and search the old messages, change your email should it have changed, amend a message or add to it. You can reply to any of the old messages to offer help or supply answers. And feel free to post new queries. They are the lifeblood for new researchers.
In addition, the board will take over some of the aspects of the main web site.
1. It replaces my old Message Board and Calendar of Events,
2. It will be a current forum where you can post your most helpful genealogical web sites.
3. Share your "tricks of the trade". I love the satellite mapping services.
4. You can let other researchers know which programs help you the most in your daily hunting.
5. It will also allow us to send messages to the entire Inman mailing list.
6. I moved the list of Inman family web sites here. So you can add or amend yours on the board. Please add better descriptions for your site.
7. And in the future, I may make it the home for the Researcher's pages that come from the Bio Pages. You will be able to amend your entries as you move or make changes in your server.
I encourage you to visit the new site and take full advantage of all of the board's features. Please register, free and confidential, so that you can make full use of the board. Feel free to personalize the board to suit your likes and needs. Shannon has posted instructions for you to make the whole process as simple as possible.
It is my hope that you will find the site so useful that you will make it your daily start-up web site so that you can keep track of new posts. Please contact Shannon,
shanifaye@gmail.com, or myself, if you have comments or suggestions for the board. We are wanting to make this well worth your time.
OK. So where is it? -
