DAVENPORT, Iowa -- Elmer J. Inhelder, 76, Davenport, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at Genesis Medical Center East Campus, Davenport following a sudden illness.
Services are at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be at National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, Ill.
Visitation is with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the church or the Quad Cities Audubon Society.
Mr. Inhelder was born on April 30, 1925, in Buffalo, the son of John G. and Adelia Wrage Inhelder. He married Dorothy E. Wolf in 1948 in Davenport.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a sheet metal worker for more than 43 years. He worked for the Schebler Company, Bettendorf and for the local Sheet Metal Workers Union.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He and his wife were active in local Square Dancing groups. He was a perfectionist in all he did, from sheet metal to wood-working. He was also a talented baker.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, John Inhelder and his wife, Jean, of Davenport, Randy Inhelder and his wife, Sue, of Warrensburg, Mo. and Gary Inhelder and his wife, Linda, of Manistique, Mich.; a daughter, Marlys Lyons and her husband, Pat, of Clinton; and grandchildren.
