There is more than one John Ingersoll in fact it and Benjamin seem to be used often in the Ingersoll line. At least, in the Ingersoll line I know of.

The earliest member of my Ingersoll line is John Ingersoll who lived in Huntington New York (Long Island) in the 1600s.
