Hi JOy! So glad to hear from you! I am descended from Ellis Cook, who according to your info. on here, was the son of Ann Ellis and Edward Cook. Ellis (and later a younger brother Robert) came to the U.S. sometime in the early 1800's and settled in upstate NY. I actually just went to the Cook family reunion this past weekend for the first time(although they have held it form many years). Just wondering what other info. you may have. So excited about finding new info. on this family!

I have been researching the Mayors of Wangaratta, Victoria, Australia, and found out that an Inchbold had been one of them. Percival Pennell Inchbold, is the grandson of Hodgson Inchbold, via his son, John. Below is the information I found - and as is the usual with 2nd-3rd hand genealogy info ... best to investigate and confirm it for yourself, just incase I got some things wrong:

Percival Pennell Inchbold was born in Yarrawonga, Victoria on28th January 1884. Percival’s parents were John Inchbold and Mary Ann Burgess (John immigrated to Port Phillip, Victoria, arriving February 1853 onboard the ship “Marion Moore” with his parents and 5 of his siblings. John was later married in Victoria in 1861).
Percival’s ancestors originally came from Yorkshire, England.

He married on the 2nd Jun 1925 to Helen Mary Livermore. Helen was born on the 31st August 1895 in Leichhardt, New South Wales. She died on the 1st October 1995 in Melbourne, Victoria. Her parents were Edwin William Thomas Livermore and Grace Agnes Webster

Percival served in WW1 in the Australian Infantry Forces. His service number was 4468, serving with the 22nd Battalion, and the place of enlistment was Melbourne, Victoria. His occupation was recorded as being a 31yo single, farmer.

His physical description at time of his enlistment was, 5’ 11” tall, brown eyes, black hair, fair complexion.

During the time of his service overseas, his medical records stated that he suffered from re-occurring bouts of scabies and pleurisy. He saw combat action in Rouen, France. On the 2nd May 1917 he received gunshot wounds to the face at Rouen, which kept him out of action for a total of 17 days, rejoining his battalion on the 19th May 1917.

On the 19th of September 1917, still at Rouen, he received shrapnel wounds to the left arm and thigh, which was noted as being severe. He was shipped over to England where he was hospitalised. He rejoined his battalion in the field in France, on 2nd February 1918.

On the 5th October 1918, again in Rouen, France, he received more shrapnel wounds – this time to the throat and shoulder. On the 18th of October, whilst at the Red Cross Hospital, his status was recorded as being dangerously ill. After spending several months in hospital recovering, Percival was discharged from the hospital on the 22nd January 1919, and continued his service until he was discharged on the 8th of June 1919, with the rank of Lance-Corporal.

After returning to Australia from service with the Australian Infantry Forces in World War 1, Percival successfully became firstly a Yarrawonga shire councillor 1921-33, and then President of the Yarrawonga Council in 1922-23.

Wangaratta Borough Councillor 1927-36, and Wangaratta Borough Mayor 1933-34. After this, he did not seek to re-elect and retired in August 1936.

During the years of 1935-1953, Percival was MLC North Eastern Province. In the period of 1950-1952, he served as the Minister for Education.

Percival passed away in Wangaratta, on the 8th July 1953. Inchbold Street in Wangaratta is named after him.

If you are still around William Inchbold was my GGG grandfather, married Ann Garnett. Their son Robert Hotham Inchbold (I have an interesting Hotham theory) married Eliza F Harrison, my G Grandmother Alices B Inchbold b.1881 ran off from Scarborough to marry my G grandfather Micheal f. Kane/Caine who had been lodging in Scarborough but was from Leeds. Since Robert H had died when the family were young and they had been given a church house by Lord Hotham I don't suppose they were happy when she wanted to marry a catholic!

Eliza Inchbold 1854/52 - 1938

I'm looking for the ancestors of Eliza Inchbold. I have her birthdate as either 1854 or 1852, deceased 1938. She married Benjamin Woolley. They have a daughter, Alice, who married Henry Percy Turner. Their son, Jack, is my grandfather.

Any information on Eliza's family would be most helpful!

My Great Great Grandmother was an Emily INCHBOLD who came out to Victoria, Australia in the 1850`s with her parents and brother sisters.
She was the daughter of Hodgson INCHBALD(a Stonemason) born at Norton by Malton Yorkshire in 1813. Hodgson was the son of James INCHBALD also a Stonemason who was probably born in 1764 at Kirkby Malzeard the son of a Robert INCHBALD.
Is anyone connected to this family or researching any other INCHBOLD,
