Looking for information on the ancestry of Christopher Enabnit. He lived and died in Iowa, was of Swiss descent-coming from Berne Switzerland as a child. Have been told the spelling of this name was originally Inabnit, possibly with 2 t's.

Searching for information for a Christopher Enabnit (wife Suzanne) who had a son Fred who married Katherine Altes/Alters. Believe Fred and wife spent much time in Iowa. Family was in Clear Lake. Time frame is probably 1840s-1860s.

The Christopher Enabnit I was looking for has a brother Fred and was married to Agnes Clark. Some of the Enabnit family changed the spelling of their name from Inabnit to Enabnit. Chris was born in Berne Switzerland.

Marilyn - I do believe we are probably working on the same family. I just don't have much info to go on. The following is all I've been given. This is not one of my family lines. Just trying to find info for a friend.

Christopher (b. 1840s)>Fred (b. abt. 1865?)>Arthur Jacob (1893-1959)>Paul James, Sr. (living)>Paul James, Jr. (living).

The Christopher you're working on who had a brother Fred could have named a son Fred (the one I've mentioned above) after his brother. Does any of this information I mention sound familiar to you? I would appreciate any further info you might have. You can reach me at e-mail address - Mtrophies@aol.com. Thanks. Marian

My Grandparents Rosina & Adolph Ebnit at one time had the last name of Inebnit. Many years ago my great Uncle Pete Inebnit droped the (In)ebnit and hence the spelling of Ebnit. Uncle Pete lived in Wisconsin, do not remember the exact location at this time. I do not have the family tree right at had at this moment. My Grand Parents lived in the country near Ithaca, Michigan. I have been told that our family name was one of a kind, because we came from Switzerland and the only family in the US and some of the family members that also came to the US keept the spelling of Inebnit or Inabnit.
