COLUMBIA BASIN HERALD, MOSES LAKE, WASHINGTON STATE.

Fumiko Inaba died peacefully in her sleep on Jan. 6 at her home in Hearthstone Inn, where she lived for four years. Born Fumiko Okimoto in Seattle, on Jan. 16, 1920. She moved with her mother to Minidoka internment camp in Idaho in 1942.

In 1943 she married Frank Inaba from Wapato in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and while he was fighting in Europe, she lived with her mother in Chicago, Illinois. After Frank was discharged they moved to Nyssa, Oregon for a short while before settling in Moses Lake. They resided in Moses Lake for 56 years where Frank farmed and Fumi raised her two daughters.

Fumi was creative with needlework and sewing and was an avid gardener and cook. All of their hobbies allowed her to make things that she could share with her friends as she had a most kind and generous heart.

For many years she worked as a skilled seamstress involved with tailoring at Edlund's mens store in Moses Lake and at Larson Air Force Base. Socially she enjoyed participating with Nisei Women's club and the Yakima Buddhist Church.

Preceded in passing by her husband, Frank passed this summer. Fumi will be missed by her family: Karen Inaba, her husband, Michael Holubar, and their daughter Hana of Redwood City Calif. and Janet Ottosen, her husband, Jim and their daughter, Courtney of Bothell, Wash.

Celebration of life and inurnment will be held at a later date.
