CHILLICOTHE: Harold E. Immell, 83, of Chillicothe, Ohio (Ross County) died 4:20 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011 in Traditions of Chillicothe following an extended illness.
He was born September 20, 1927, in Ross County, Ohio to the late George D. and Edna M. Wardell Immell.
On September 8, 1973, he married the former Ruth E. Chaffin who died September 29, 2001.
Surviving are a stepdaughter, Toni Lea Heiss-Combs, of Columbus; a brother, Ralph M. (Lucinda) Immell, of Chillicothe; nephews, David A. Immell of Chillicothe and Jerry (Rae Jean) Owen, of Oxford; nieces, Cherri Barch, of Chillicothe, Jane (Bruce) McAfee, of Kingston and Pam (Derrick) Hogeback, of Oxford; two grandnieces; a grandnephew; sisters-in-law, Rosemary Chaffin, of Chillicothe and Donna (Bill) Magill, of Chillicothe; and a brother-in-law, Walter Chaffin, of Columbus.
He was predeceased by a sister, Ellen Louise Wisecup; a brother-in-law, Hugh Wisecup; and a grandnephew.
Harold served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from DuPont.
Harold was a member of the Logan Elm Lodge #624 F&AM of Kingston, OH for 60 years. He was also a member of the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite, the Evening Lions Club, the Lions Club International Foundation, the VFW, AMVETS Post 2256 and was a life member of the American Legion. Harold was a Melvin Jones Fellow, a Kentucky Colonel and had served as Trustee for Green Township for 12 years. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2011 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Jack Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the AMVETS Post 2256 Honor Guard. Friends may call at Ware's from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday where a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m.
