Hello,
I am working on a history of Franz Anton Immekus' ancestors and have the following information on Alfred Roy.
Alfred Roy Immekus was born on June 7, 1907 in Washington County, Missouri. He was living with his parents on the 1910, 1920 and 1930 censuses. He is listed as a truck chauffeur on the 1930 census.
On January 7, 1931 he married Ethel Marie Davis. Ethel was born on May 1, 1912 in Franklin County, Missouri to Eli Winfield and Pearl Melissa Moss Davis.
Alfred and Ethel had two children: Harriet Ann Immekus (missing date of birth); and Gary Dean Immekus, born August 3, 1935.
On March 29, 1944 Alfred entered the service of the Navy and served during World War II. I was rather disappointed that his gravesite record was the only record I found on his military service. I know nothing about where he served, which campaigns he was on, awards received, etc.
Ethel enlisted on November 1, 1944 in the Womens Army Corps. According to her enlistment record she had completed two years of high school, she was married, her height was 56 and her weight was 556. If they were talking inches and pounds, she must have been a rather short butterball. I considered that she was 5 feet 6 inches, but I can’t do anything with the 556. There is an article about the Womens Army Corps at
http://www.history.army.mil/brochures/wac/wac.htm. I found the entire article interesting but it is long. I would like to find out more about Ethel’s service: why she enlisted, what she did, etc.
Alfred Roy Immekus died on September 19, 1992 in Bourbon, Crawford County, Missouri and is buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Road, St. Louis, Missouri, Section 1f, Site 2213. Ethel died March 5, 1996 and is in Section 1-I, Site 1914.
