Lowell G. Imler, 86, of Van Wert, Ohio, died at 3:10 p.m. Thursday, November 4, 2004, at Van Wert County Hospital.
He was born January 23, 1918, in Ridge Township, Van Wert County, the son of the late Ray L. and Elizabeth (Brown) Imler.
Mr. Imler formerly worked at Central Mutual Insurance Company in Van Wert as an underwriter. He attended First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Signal Corps serving during World War II in the Philippines as a staff sergeant.
He also authored three books and was very active with genealogy.
Survivors include a son, Mark Imler of California, and two sisters, Elizabeth (Cliff) Hoverman of Decatur, Indiana, and Patricia (William) Hofmann of Van Wert, OH.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ronald, Ralph and Paul Imler, and three sisters, Marietta Imler, Doris Imler and Margaret Engel.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 11, at Ridge Cemetery in Ridge Township, with the Rev. Dr. Edward Jillson officiating.
Military rites will be conducted by the combined honor units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803 in Van Wert.
There will be no calling hours.
