Claude "Junior" Imler, 92, of Shawnee, Ohio, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the Fairfield Medical Center Lancaster, Ohio.
He was born November 8, 1921 in Shawnee, Ohio (Perry County) the son of the late Claude Harold and Ethel Kreitz Imler.
He was a retired coal miner and highway heavy equipment operator, former employee of Sunny Hill Coal Company, member of the OHIO Operating Engineers, Perry County Democratic Central Committee for over 40 years.
He was an avid fisherman and spent most of his retirement on Lake Erie, fishing with friends, telling fishing stories and countless jokes.
He is survived by his children, Claude W. (Elaine) Imler of Shawnee, Ohio, Linda (George) Gossman of Corning, Ohio and Kathy O'Neal of Columbus, OH; sister-in-laws, Judith (John) Carver of Bordentown NJ and Eunice (Tom) Radu of Blacklick, OH; grandchildren, Sharon Imler Gaddis of Shawnee, John (Teresa Savage) Imler of Glouster, Ohio, Kris (Steve) Lyons of Howard, Chip (Stacy) Gossman of Granville, Ohio and Kelly (Joe) Adams of Corning, OH; great-grandchildren, Dr Joshua (Cassi Moore) Gaddis, Tyler (Kallie) Gaddis, Jonathan (Michelle Shivar) Imler, Laikyn Imler, Sidney Lyons, Owen Lyons, Sam Lyons, Ava Gossman, Ryan Gossman, Chase Gossman and Gabriel Adams; numerous friends and fishing pals.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy E. Imler, his grandson, Claude "Curt" Imler.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1pm on Friday, January 3, 2014 at the J.E. Humphrey Funeral Home, 118 W. Walnut Street, Shawnee, OH with Rev Sanford Short officiating. Interment: Shawnee Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-8pm on Thursday, January 2 at the funeral home.
