Just read your message on the Imhof board from 2009. Think the Clotilda mentioned was my maternal grandmother, who added Lilian or louise to her original name later in life. She died in 1940. Does this sound like your family? I would love to know about the Imhofs before they came over here!

Wow, this is very interesting and thank you very much for it.

I am in the Imhof/Breitenbach line. My GGM was Elanora Breitenbach married to John Imhof.

I have been to Partenstein and met a distant cousin, but unfortunately was not get back to extend the relationship.

Another cousin of mine has been to Partenstein three times and he has met an Amend. He is the owner of the town bank.

My Mum is Betty Joyce Imhof Maiden name Webb. She married Stanly Eric Imhof in approx 1961/62 Divorced in 1980 ish. Stanly has a brother called Edward (they don't get on). He also had three sisters. Carol, Christine and Jean. Jean was the eldest. Carol and Christine would have been around your age maybe a bit older.

Betty (my mum) lives in The US now with her husband John (a septic tank). I have a brother Philip who is now 43. I am 46 and we both have many offspring!! I live in Chelmsford, Essex now, my brother lives near Cambridge. We all left Walthamstow when I joined the Royal Marines in 1979. Mum and dad moved out to Great Bardfield near Braintree, Essex. Got divorced shortly after.

Sorry for the confusion. Christine is my cousin was she married to an irish guy. Who is your mum? I'm still trying to trawl through this mess. From what I can gather My grandad was married to an Annie Waller in 1925 but no record of him marrying my nan. Seems to be a few skeletons in the closet. If I find out any more will let you know. Do you still live in Walthamstow or have you moved away?

Your dad was the brother of Percy Rudolph their Father was Henry Rudoph who married Fanny Elizabeth Henry's Father was Frederick Rudolph Imhof who was married to Marie they came over to England from Bavaria between 1861 and 1871 they had a large family Johanna, George, Elizabeth, Henry clotilda and Louisa there may have been more but Iv'e got stuck. I found your mum Christine a few years ago but lost touch when I moved lost a lot of papers and phone numbers.

My grandfather was Charles Eugene Imhof who lived in St. Mary's, Pennsylvania. His ancestry came to America somewhere around 1834. They had many children, all except one became Redemptorist priests and nuns. Also, there is a story about a relative who escaped the French Revolution and came to Bavaria. Does any of this ring a bell?

Mrs. Matilda M. IMHOF, 73 years old, widow of John F. IMHOF,
died yesterday morning at her home, 2800 Harrison Street.
Mrs. IMHOF came to Kansas City three years ago from
St. Joseph, Mo., where she had lived for many years.

She is survived by seven children, Frank T. and Misses Matilda,
Agnes, Bertha, Ollie, Carolyn and Lizette IMHOF, all of this city.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the
home. The Rev. Edwin S. HAVIGHURST of the First German
Methodist Episcopal Church will officiate. Burial will be in
Forest Hill Cemetery.

I have a Anna Margretha Imhof that married Michael Lusch. I believe that Anna Barbara and Anna Margretha were sisters. Jacob and Michael are brothers. My gr gr grandfather came over in 1848, from Baden Germany. 1841 grandmother(GR GR) Switzeland. she went by Margaret her father was Fredrich Imhof and Catherine M Keller. Michael and Margaret 1852 in Ohio had my gr grandfather Charles F(I believe Fredrich) Lusch. married ? Moffat. they had grandfather Reubin Moffat,and Margaret Viginia Lusch Can you help me find my gr grandmother (?) MoffatI think it was Eva or Eunice they both are in the census with Charles .Eva Lusch in 1870 with a 4 year old son Reuben never to be heard of again. Then Eunice shows up with the two children.and Charles.

He was married to Cathrin im Hof (translated : meaning "in court” - today known as : Imhof).
They have had three children. He was protestant.

I am NOT originally from Brooklyn, NY, never even lived in Brooklyn.

I, John D. Imhof, was born and raised in The Bronx, NY. After retiring from the US Army. settled in Southern New Jersey and still there.

Kaspar Imhof (Casper Imhoff) from Baden

I am looking for information on Kasper and Katharine Imhof. They traveled to America on the Maas in 1880 with their children: Joseph, Marie, Elisabeth, Johannes, Theodor and Nikolaus. Kasper was born in 1843 and Katharine in 1840. The 1880 census for Pennsylvania has them living in Pittsburgh and being from Baden. This census also lists the name as Casper Imhoff. I would like to find out where in Baden they are from and information on any other family members. Thanks

Just found your reply from 1999. I am related to Anna Barbara IMHOF who came from Switzerland to USA about 1852 (I believe)with many IMHOFs and settled in Ohio. She married Jacob LUSCH soon after. I believe she lived in Columbus, Marysville and maybe Marion with her husband and 9 children. Do you have an Anna Barbara IMHOF in your ancestry? Thanks for your time.

Hello Andrew, Yes I have information on the Imhof name as far as my family. My maiden name is Imhof, and I have our line clear back to the Imhof that came over from Germany. Are you living here in US, or are you from Germany? I will go thru my files tomarrow and I really do have quite a bit, and send you some info. I am curious about the spelling with just one F, our family originally used two f's an changed it many years ago to one F, it is very unusual to find someonelse who spells it with one. Does anyone know Elizabeth IMHOF, who was born 16th July 1755 in East Nantmeal, chester co PA. Her Father was Johannes Imhof, who later resided in coventry township, chester co PA.
Elizabeth married Christoph Knauer(b 5 Jan 1759, d Oct 5th 1811) and they had four sons and a daughter:David, John, Jacob, Elizabeth and Christopher.
The family lived in Knauertown, Chester co PA.
