TUCSON, AZ: Born in Madison, Wisconsin, Ellen passed away on March 11, 2010 in Tucson, Arizona at the age of 85.

She is survived by her children, Sara of Philadelphia, PA, Eric of Denver, CO, and Blair of Hebron, KY; her grandchildren, Jake and Elise; her sister, Betty Walker of Eau Claire, WI; and her long-time companion, Don Gregis.

Ellen attended Eau Claire (Wisconsin) High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin/Madison. During college, she worked in a munitions factory making bomb fuses and casings in support of the WWII war effort. Upon graduation, Ellen served a dietetic internship at Harper Hospital in Detroit, Michigan where she met her husband, John E. Imbody, who was doing his residency in ophthalmology. They moved to Marion, Ohio where she worked in many professional and volunteer capacities such as president of the PTA, registered dietician, founder of the Marion WIC (Women, Infants and Children) program and Ohio's first female city health commissioner. After her husband's death and upon her retirement, Ellen moved back to Eau Claire in 1988. In 1998, she moved to Arizona.

Throughout her life, Ellen had a broad range of interests including environmental and human rights issues and nutrition programs. She also traveled widely and enjoyed all of the arts, music and theater especially.

She will be deeply missed by her family and loved ones.
