Mettias Imber was born in Baden, Germany in 1828. He married Anna maria Gnier around 1862. She was born 3/12/1820 in Baden. He died in Lancaster, PA 1/25/01 and is buried at the Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. She died 1/25/02 and is buried at the Petersburg Mennonite Meeting House. Their children were:Caroline, Levi, Henry, Abraham, John, Daniel, Elwood and Nathan. Nathan was my dad's grandfather. I have info on him and some on the siblings. How are you related? I presently live in Yorktown, PA, because my husband is stationed here in the military. I was born in Lancaster and my dad still lives in the county. Can't wait to hear from you.

We are cousins. Nathan Gnier is also my father's grandfather. My father is Nathan Donald Ember - who is your father - one of that gang I am sure. I'm so excited to have found you on the net. I have a family tree of about 400 descendents of Mettias Imber. My goal is to trace backwards into Germany and find cousins there as well.

I just started my search, and a cousin of ours in Kansas (Abraham son of Mettias moved to Kansas and there is a branch of our family there) did a lot of research on that branch of the tree.

I have software, Familytree Maker, and I'm doing my ancestor search using that. I'd love to meet you. I'm going to visit Lancaster Co (possibly over Easter break-I work at a school) and try to find gravesites for our grandfather/mother and great-greatfather/mother. I had the cemetery names - do you know any of the locations?

Write back soon...

Your cousin (THAT SOUNDS SO COOL!!!!)

You may not know that Mettias came to America on the Ship "Dorcas Prince" and arrived in Baltimore on July 9, 1852. I have a full passenger list.

I have a friend that married into this family. We have been working on the line of Abraham who came to Kansas. Do you know anything about Harry? He is listed as a son of Abraham, but he was born in 1877 in Illinois and Abraham married in about 1882. Was he adopted? Could you put in touch with the person in Kansas working on this line. We live in Wichita Ks. Do you know who Roman and Catherine Imber are? They lived near Methis in Lancaster Co in 1860. They were in their mid 50's and were living with a family named Skies. We will be ancious to hear from you. If we could help you with any information let us know.

I have some info on Abraham's family. It's several pages long. I can mail it to you or your friend if you want to e-mail me your address at tonipiano@aol.com.

On Harry Edwin Embers, I have born 1/4/1877, died 8/15/1953 married Emma Marie Eklund 2/23/1910. I have brothers and sisters. He lived in Hutcfhinson KS, daughter Velma Effie 6/8/1911 married Allen Prior, children Allen, Lyle, Letha, Laretta born in the 1940's, etc. I have more info I can mail.

No info on Roman and Catherine Imber.

Try Mrs. Robert Embers as a possible contact who worked on KS Ember tree at 3001 Ranger Dr, Lawrence KS 66044. I wrote Several years ago but did not get a response.

When I visit Lancaster in spring, I'll look up Roman and Catherine in the archives and see if I find anything? What info do you have?

Wow..

I've been getting in contact with other Imbers trying to piece together our branch of this tree.

Our ancestor's name is Moshe Imber, who came here from Austria around 1880 or so. Does he fit in anywhere? Know any other Imbers who can help us out?

Thanks!

There are a lot of Imbers on Ancestry.com. It doesn't sound like my line is directly related to yours. My great grandfather was Mettias Imber and came from Germany in 1852 and settled in Lancaster Co., PA. There are a lot of Imbers in that area of Pennsylvania.

Good luck in your search.
