Iman and Hammonds

Surnames: Iman Eymann Hammond Amman
I have DNA matches with someone with an Iman relative in Illinois and many Hammonds and Hammans. I have Ammans and Eymanns in my ancestry from Switzerland and Germany. Is there a known link to the Hammonds and Imans where we know an ancestor changed the name?

I have a database of many many Imans and Eymans and related spellings, but see no Hammonds or Hammans. In fact while I've heard of "Ammans", I've not found them among U.S. branches of the family. The addition of an 'n' to the Eyman is a distinction between Swiss and German naming habits I think.

Thank you for your reply. I recently went to the website: http://www.imanfamily.net/europe/index.html

I have found some interesting information there that backs up your post.

Thanks. I'm afraid that's my own website. Along these lines, and by way of explanation.. and apologies if you've been in touch with our great cousin Torsten in Germany, you might want to see his recent and very helpful overview of family naming:
