Bonnie & Elaine,
I am from New Zealand. My 2nd great grandmother was Jemima Iliffe who came to NZ with her husband John Thomas Woodfield in 1859. Jemima was the daughter of Samuel Iliff, a frame smith of Bond Street, who was apprenticed to Mr Vessy, becoming a freeman on 25th October 1822.
Jemima was born 6 March 1829 in Leicester and married there 30 December 1858. Her father, Samuel was born c1789 died 3 May 1833. Samuel married Charlotte Hubbard on 13 June 1820 in Kimcote Parish - they had 4 children. Samuel's father was William Iliffe b 1766 d 1836. He married Ann Chawner and they had 2 sons. This William's father was also named William Iliffe, baptised 16 March 1742. With the Leicester connections, I'm sure my Iliffe's must be related to your Iliffe's?
