Hi Don,
My Mother, Betty May Iler, was born in Yakima, Wash., and her father, William F. Iler was born in Quincy, Ill. I will tell you that alot of my information, and knowledge about the Iler name has come from an on-line helper, Morgan B. Iler who has a newsletter he will share with you and lots of knowledge about the Iler ancestory. "mbiler@juno.com" . Iler is of German descent, and the spelling was changed several times, Eihler, Eiler, Eilar, Eyler Oyler, etc. Hope that helps. Good luck and e-mail me again if I can help. BMI

I am Don's wife. Don asked for information in 2005. Not sure what you sent him then. Our son Matthew Iler (age 15) would love any information you have.

I have numerous letters (on company stationary) between Alonzo and Don's grandfather, originally Alonzo and then formally known as Don. This Don worked for the u.S. TREASURY. He lived in New York. Don II - my father in law was born in NY and lived in NJ most of his married life. My husband is Don III. My son is Don IV all have different full names.

The 1867 birth year & Georgia birthplace sounds right for Alonzo.

Not sure what else you need to verify. I have old photos, too. Not sure exactly who they are. My father-in-law was an only child.

If you respond I can give you my email to send directly or my hubby's email is still the same from 2005. Make sure to ask him to print for Matthew's school project.

Hi Don!

I'm beginning the long search of my family history. I am the granddaughter of Veda Almira (nee Iler) Gallagher, born Feb 18, 1899; died May 29, 1919. Veda is the daughter of John Alexander and Cahterine Berdella [nee McBeth] Iler, grandaughter of Thomas Jefferson and Alice Ann [nee Guld] Iler, and great-granddaughter of John Wagoner Iler.

Good luck in your search!

Jan K., Orlando FL

Phylis, I didn't realize Don moved from Augusta. He had an older brother William B.(they both went to work for their father James F. in the cotton mill), whose son William R. also moved to New York City in the Bronx. He had a number of sons including Joseph, Billy, Matthew and Roland. Unfortunately Joseph and Roland were killed in the Normandy Invasion. Joseph is my sister JoAnne's father.
