I am attempting to trace the family of Jacob Ike who was born in N.J. in 1792 and married Sarah Tyger who was born in 1791. They are buried in Waterloo Village in N.J. They had son's Jacob Ike who went west to Pennsylvania ; William Ike; George Ike, born 1816 and married Sarah Dangler; John Ike who married Margaret Barnes and moved west and children changed their name to Ickes; Herbert Ike, born 1822; Sarah Ann Ike, born 1833 married Nathaniel Best and Margaret Ike. If there is anyone whohas information concerning any of the Ike family would you please contact me. Thank you.

My gg grandfather is John Ike, date of birth unknown, and may have been born in Jersey City, Hudson Cty, New Jersey. He married Margaret Barnes. Two children were born as issue of this marriage; my ggrandmother, Louisa Ames Ike, b 7 Sep 1862 in Mattoon, Coles Cty, Illinois, d 15 Feb 1930 in Rockford, Winnebago Cty, Illinois, m Edgar Alonzo Holly 6 Apr 1880 in Sterling, Whiteside Cty, Illinois; and her brother, George B. Ike, b 10 Aug 1855 Jersey City, Hudson Cty, New Jersey, d 19 Feb 1930, McCook, Red Willow Cty, Nebraska. m Emma A Keller in Boon County, Iowa.

If you wish, I can send you the names of their children, etc., or can GEDCOM my PAF file to you.

You are an answer to a prayer. I had hit a dead end on this line some years ago, and it is so exciting to see a light at the end of my Ike tunnel.

Do you know if Jacob Ike was our immigrating ancestor? Also, would you mind sharing with me your documentation?

Thank you so much for you inquiry. It means a lot to me.

How do we tie in together?

Judi - thanks for answering right away. I am new at this family history thing but recently came across a 1955 conversation with my great uncle, Harry Albert Ike and he gives a little history on the Ike family. He only goes back as far as Jacob (who was 1 of 13 children) I would like to share as much information as I have - family bible, grave headstones etc. Do not know how to do it through this forum though. My e-mail address is 110376.3525@compuserve.com I will be more than happy to share what info I have with you. I am still working on it and hopefully will be able to accomplish more in the future. It appears that most of the information on the early Ike's are here in N.J. Hope to hear from you soon. Rich Ike

I too have a NJ IKE in my line. I'm at work and need to check at home but I believe my female IKE married a HARLE. My 2g grandmother was Mary Elizabeth HARLE and she married 1st George AMMERMAN, 2nd Peter PREDMORE.

Mary Elizabeth was b. 1856, d. 1931.

I wish that I could give you good news and say that I have information. Unfortunately I am just in the beginning stages of the family history and although I can go back to 1791 I only have my ggggrandfather and not one of his 12 brother or sisters. Should I come up with anything through my research I will let you know asap. If you have any other info such as her father maybe? Hopeto hear from you with some update and I will keep in touch.

Sorry Joann about adding the y to Harle. The Ammerman name is quite common in the Somerset Hills section of New Jersey as well as Sussex County. If you do have any moe info I will be happy to look it upin the county library.
