hello again,
maggie virginia (as we have it, seen it on the head stone at her grave) died 4/20/1902....
she had four kids with samuel peter snider....
ossie vera (my g-grandmother)---- she was born
2/16/1895 and died on 5/25/1975.....
she had two brothers-----
william rufus, sr---b. 3/15/1898, d. 11/3/1982
calvin adam----b. 1/27/1900, d. 5/9/1974
i couldn't find anything about her sister ila mae...but since i'm sure she got married, i don't know what her surname would've changed to...i can ask mom or aunt margaret (aunt margaret---grandpa's only surviving sibling, daughter of ossie vera)....
i do know from pictures and stories that uncle cal (calvin adam) was a sickly type....i have seen one picture of him laying in the bed bundled up in covers while he was under the weather and he looked god awful...but even in this other picture of him when he was relatively healthy he looked like a death camp survivor....i'll have to scan a copy someday for you to appreciate what i mean....and they say that his son was a real piece of work, but i won't run him in the ground here, it isn't right...
another interesting fact....
sam snider, son of william rufus sr. is my grandfather's 1st cousin....he married one of my grandmother's sisters vera mae hollowell....
a lot of rufus sr.'s children and grand children live withing mere miles of us here at home....with the exception of uncle sam...he and aunt vera live in Va. (other's i'm unsure of ).
but ruf jr. , and ethel jean live here in town i do know that, met them both...ethel jean is just as sweet as she can be....and quite attractive for an older lady...
i have a picture from about 1910-1912 of a school class that contains three of the four snider children i mentioned....i got it from my great-aunt lillie snider (she was married to william rufus sr.)....she's a doll baby at about 96yrs old...i have right many other old photos she let me make copies of if you'd be interested in them....i even have a "so-so" copy of maggie virginia if you'd like me to try to get it to you. i even have a pic of basil ijames and his wife doris "dovie" alice brown....that is a cool picture too....of course i really like them all. they are just so neat to look at....
let me know what you're interested in and i'll do my best getting it out to you.
