Atlantic, Iowa
Cumberland—Galt Ihnen 82, died at 5 p.m. [on August 18, 1949] at the Atlantic Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient about three weeks. He had been in failing health for the last two years. Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Sunday at the Franklin township Lutheran church, the Rev. Rodnew W. Riese officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery there.
Galt Ihnen, son of Galt and Margaret Ihnen, was born in Essen, Germany, November 27, 1866. At the age of 16 he came to the United States and lived two years in New York City, moving then to Cass Couny. He married Friedericka Albers Feb. 25, 1892 at the Franklin township Lutheran church. The couple lived on a farm northeast if here until they retired in 1917 and moved to town. Mrs. Ihnen died Feb. 13, 1946, and since that time Mr. Ihnen has made his home with his children.
Surviving are three children, Mrs. Hugh Heeren of Cumberland and Mrs. John Eilts and Anton Ihnen of Wiota; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
