Bill,

Can't help much with the Ihle side, but I believe that Mary Ann Armbruster was the sister of my gggrandfather Ludwig (Louis) Armbruster. They also had many other siblings but at least two of them immigrated to the U.S. They were Anton and Valentin.

You might be able to solve one of my puzzles. A great aunt of mine says four brothers (the three mentioned and William) came to the U.S. She did not mention the sister, but another cousin has info that matches your Mary Ann. Was there also a brother William in the U.S.?

Regards,
Cathy

Hi Cathy,

Thanks for the note. I have diskets 1-5 from the Mormon Later Day Saints (LDS)

They show Joseph Armbruster having 11 children. The first was Ludwig, then Maria Anna.

Wilhelm DOB 21, may, 1855 in Fautenbach, Baden, Germany. Has nn additional information. The ones coming to the US have marriage and death information.

One point to check is that Ludwig had a son WILLIAM, DOB 6, Dec, 1882 in Cincinnati Ohio. So maybe confusion between them.

Some of the information is also available on www.familysearch.com that is LDS online info.

The LDS site is sort of new and growing. Have noticed some problems like Maria Anna is listed twice. Born in Germany and the born in Cincinnati.

Hope this helps.

Bill,

Thanks for the reply.

This William (son of Ludwig) is the uncle of my great aunt who told the story of her grandfather and "three brothers" coming to U.S. I have his name but did not have his date of birth.

I believe the other information you refer to is the research of Kurtis Cook. Some of his information comes from the same aunt. However, he has done extensive research with lots of documentation so I believe his story more. I just thought perhaps you might have additional info on the "Illinois branch" of the family as it seems to connect to you.

For now I agree with your theory that Wilhelm son of Josef probably never came to the U.S.

Thanks again, and if you need additional info on the Armbruster branch I will be glad to tell you what I have found (or have learned from Kurt).

Bill,
Looks like we're related! Johann Adam Ihle was my great grandfather. I have found no more info than you have unfortunately. But I do have his descendants if you need something. Maybe we can scrounge up something more on him??

Hi Laura,

Wow, Glad to hear from another line. I have John's 13 children but not much else other then Wilhelm (my grandfather).
Have two other cousins doing some work on family history. Mike Wallace has set up page for the Wallace family and I have added John's family tree.

If you would like I can add you as family member, send me your E-mail address and you will be notified.

I would like to know how your line fits in. I you could send me the info to bill_ihle@Yahoo.com.

Hoping to hear from you

Hi Bill. Both my grandfather and my great grandfather are Wilhelm Ihle, both from Maryland
I don't know much about my father's family, as my mother moved us away from my father and his family in 1965, by
moving us here to Miami, Fl (It's like Africa hot down here) Anyway, I do have several pages from a book written
by a local historian about J. Charles Ihle, whose parents emmigrated from Germany around the mid-1800's. He apparently
was quite a character and made a mark. If you would like a scan of the few pages, I'd be happy to provide them to you.
Even though this is a large family, I almost never come across someone with my old last name. Incidentally, my brother
is a Bill Ihle too. He lives in Okeechobee, Florida. My e-mail address is: masterspowell@yahoo.com. I would love to hear from you.
Sincerely, Janet Ihle Powell

Surnames: Ihle, Hoffman, Schultheiss
Hi Janet,

I had to write. I am from the Wilhelm Ihle born in Bavaria in 1801. Doesn't sound like your Wilhelm. They immigrated to Megis, Ohio area in the 1830's. I was reading your message and saw your brother lives in Okeechobee. I was born and raised in Okeechobee. My grandmother Esta Mae Ihle Hoffman Simmons lived and died in Port Salerno just 60 mi from Okeechobee. Her father was Orlando Gray Ihle, son of Christopher. Her mother was Minnie Jane Foglesong Ihle who died at 23 year of age. Small world isn't it?

Our Armbruster family story sounds something like your's and my gggrandfather's name was William. Family story is that William and his three brothers came to the U.S. from Baden, Germany with their families (probably in the 1850's), went their separate ways and never saw each other again. Would very much like to know the names of the other brothers and where they each settled. Our William settled in Medina, Co. OH, and part of his family moved on to Wood Co. OH including my ggrandfather Joseph, His brother William, and their sister Caroline. Don't know if we are talking the same family but would really like to know.
