Hi, Ihle as you may know means "dweller on the isle" The variations of Ihle include Illy, Ihley, and Iley to name a few. Ihle's who arrived in Georgia Jan. 26, 1745 were "Palatines" from the southern Rhineland of what is now Germany. This family included Johann Jacob Ihle 1st, his wife Agnesia, and sons Andreas, Wilhelm, Michael, and Johann Jacob 2nd. The sons were indentured seperate, but Jacob 1st and Agnesia served together. They settled in a town called Ebenezer 30 miles north of Savannah. There were other Ihle's who immigrated to Pennylvania. Initially the family described were bound for Penn. when their ship "Twin Sisters" was seized by Spain. They lost everything and were forced into servitude to continue their journey to America. They may be related to the Ihle's that arrived in Penn. at various times. There is some interesting info in the US GENWEB Forum about this family. Type in Iley or Ihley and follow the links to Beau Bowens web site. I hope this helps.
Good Luck Cousin,
John
