Hi,
Ihle as you may know means "dweller on the isle"
The variations of Ihle include Illy, Ihley, and
Iley to name a few. Ihle's who arrived in Georgia
Jan. 26, 1745 were "Palatines" from the southern
Rhineland of what is now Germany. This family included
Johann Jacob Ihle 1st, his wife Agnesia, and sons
Andreas, Wilhelm, Michael, and Johann Jacob 2nd. The
sons were indentured seperate, but Jacob 1st and Agnesia
served together. They settled in a town called Ebenezer
30 miles north of Savannah.
There were other Ihle's who immigrated to Pennylvania.
Initially the family described were bound for Penn. when
their ship "Twin Sisters" was seized by Spain. They lost
everything and were forced into servitude to continue their
journey to America. They may be related to the Ihle's that
arrived in Penn. at various times. There is some interesting
info in the US GENWEB Forum about this family. Type in Iley
or Ihley and follow the links to Beau Bowens web site. I hope
this helps.

Good Luck Cousin,

John

Helen,
My Grandfather Bernard Ihle married Minnie Kleba. His father Anton Ihle married Francis Strobel. I don't know to much about Anton Francis but, They did move to Ohio with the two youngest children Fronie Kathryn. When I don't know. Anton Francis lived in Arkansas for a number of years because my grandfather lived there until his death in 1965. I have found another Ihle in ark. and we are both doing research, but don't know if were related yet! I do know that my grandfather came from Germany. when????? And I remember my mother telling me that he changed his name a little. From what to what I'm not real sure. Maybe from Ihli to Ihle? Keep in touch.
